plenty to be thankful for...THE 21st CENTURY!

i'll start off by saying that i am not {contrary to whatever my husband might think} a high maintenance girl. sort of.

i camp. i get dirty. i wear chipped polish. i don't always shower daily. i don't always wear makeup. i am sloppy...sometimes.

BUTwould i survive if i was suddenly transported back to, oh, the 1800s? um, probably not. why? because i need my 21st century conveniences, yo.
  • i'm probably the only person on the planet who does not have an iphone {no, wait, my husband doesn't have one}, but i do love my smart phone. i also hate my cell phone carrier, but that's for a different post. looking back to my early cell phone days, i don't know how i lived with a phone that didn't take pictures, send or receive emails, allow me to check the twit or facebook. yeah, enough said.

  • the internet. why use an encyclopedia or a dictionary when you can just google it?
  • the dvr. remember when you had to program your vcr to record stuff? ha ha ha.
  • the keurig. because brewing coffee one cup at a time is smart. of course, this doesn't keep me from going to starbucks.

  • the basics...you know, electricity, running water {hell, how about some HOT water}, toilets that flush, the stove, the microwave, my hair dryer, the television {ha ha ha!}.
  • my computer. because without it, i would not be writing this post about 21st century conveniences!

there's more. i know there is, but you get the gist of it, right? while it would be neat to travel by covered wagon {okay, maybe not} or travel by paper map {a paper map doesn't scream, "recalculating!"}, i'm certainly thankful to be living in a time that can offer so much. yes, some of our conveniences are born out of laziness, but let's just marvel at the technology of it all {you know, while being lazy}.

Don't worry - no iphone here, just an android. And although I love the 1800 period pieces and fantastic novels of old English society, I could never live without the Internet! :) Happy Weekend, doll!

No iphone here either...but I fuzzy pink heart my Droid. :-)

After a survival course a few years ago, I will NEVER, EVER camp again. I actually think it whole course backfired and took a very low-maintenance person and made them high-maintenence (well...not really!).
