it's ok thursday: #2 for 2012

Its Ok Thursdays

it's thursday. you know what to do.

IT'S OK...

...that i've been slacking on the blog posts this week because i want y'all to check out my sponsors.
click here and here.

...to dread tomorrow night's class. seriously, who schedules a graduate level education course at 7pm on a friday night? and, who signs up for stuff like that? oh, yeah...me.

...that i still need to post a couple of reviews & giveaways. it will happen this weekend. maybe.

...that i promised {two weeks ago} to write a tutorial on how to make a rag wreath. it hasn't happened...yet.

...to be beyond excited that tervis now has a dale earnhardt, jr. tumbler. {p.s. i love me some stock car racing.}

...to be pleasantly surprised by my at home gel mani. i'm linking up with vicki & tara tomorrow to share the deets.

...to dream about going to blissdom & blogher this year. neither will happen, i'm sure. blissdom falls during the weekend of my 10th wedding anniversary. blogher falls right at the end of the summer session {and this girl, unfortunately, will be in classes all summer long}.

...to want to label EVERYTHING with chalkboard contact paper.

...to be slightly obsessed with watching little gold stars fall into the mug on my phone's starbucks app.

...to want to paint stripes inside my cleaning closet because jen did it. my husband says it's not necessary. i think it is.

...to be excited that my links now open in a new window. you can run, but you can't hide from my blog. ha!

...to be ready for warmer, spring-like weather.

...to be happy that days are getting a little bit longer.

go link up with neely or amber & share with us what's been OK with you this week.

it's ok: 2012 edition

being the lame-o that i am, i haven't participated in neely & amber's "it's ok" thursdays in a l-o-n-g time. and, since i seem to be on a roll with blogging every day {don't get excited...that all could change next week}...

Its Ok Thursdays

IT'S OK...

...that i'm currently rocking chipped red polish on my nails and dry, cracked skin on my hands. it's winter, y'all. just be thankful you can't see my feet. i'm kidding.

...that i made resolutions that i'm sure i'll break soon. very soon. in fact, i already broke one. i ate lunch at wendy's on monday with the kids. and, the cashier gave me two coupon books. so much for breaking up with  the #1 {medium size with a coke, please}.

...that i feel like a fool when i wear the uggs my parents gave me for christmas. they do make comfy house shoes. i know, i know.

...to not want to take down my holiday card wreath. that's the only christmas or holiday related piece of decoration that is still up. everything else has been in the attic since new year's eve.

...that i seem more motivated to sit on my rear end & stare at the computer instead of clean the house. i need a maid. or, a magic wand.

...to feel guilty about being a mean wife {because i am}. i should appreciate my husband more, but gee dee it, he makes me mad sometimes.

...to stay up entirely way too late watching re-runs of that 70's show. my night is not complete until red forman calls someone a dumbass.

...to be excited, yet nervous about the crazy schedule our family will be on starting next week. mom {that's me!} and dad will both be in school four nights a week. yikes!

...to feel a bit blah about blogging lately. i need a fresh start. i gotta shake things up.

...that i'll have a few reviews & giveaways posted this weekend. keep your eyes peeled because one involves the keurig and the other involves an oreck vacuum. boo yah!

now, go, link up with amber & neely
do iiiiit.

as my uncle alfred says, "it's okay!"

it's thursday.
you know the deal.
{if not, you better recognize.}
get your booty over to a complete waste of makeup {neely has a new domain so make note of it!} OR brunch with amber and link up for...

Its Ok Thursdays

it's okay...

...that my algebra professor was fired. the new professor is fabulous {and now i actually understand the material}.

...to feel a bit stressed about school. not only am i trying to juggle my work load, but i'm also helping my husband jump through all of the paperwork hoops so he can start taking classes in the spring.

...to listen to "brass monkey" by the beastie boys while your kids are in the car {seriously, my minivan was thumpin' & bumpin' down the road}.

...that the only reason your kids recognized the beastie boys/song is because a) your daughter watches just desserts and remembers when ad-rock was a guest judge and b) your son says, "oh, that was the name of the beer from the just desserts pantry!" {i guess there goes my chance to win mommy of the year...}

...to think to yourself {while rocking out to "brass monkey"}, "how neat. i was their age when i first heard this song." {the "licensed to ill" album was released in 1986. i was nine years old. and, yes, i had a copy.}*

...to want to say, "yo baby, wassup?!" {i blame brass monkey.}

...that i've been spending a little too much money lately. at least some christmas presents have been purchased. in addition, material to make some christmas presents have been purchased as well.

...to feel defeated after spending hours on what seemed like the worst assessment i've ever taken. seriously, y'all, the midterm for one of my education classes {an assessment class, no less!} was brutal. brutal because it sucked, not because i didn't know the material.

...to be excited for saturday night's girls night. we get together every october to celebrate our friendship. click here to read about our first date. click here to read about our first anniversary. click here to see how our group has grown.

...to feel kind of nervous about wearing a dress to girl's night on saturday. y'all, i'm almost always in jeans. but, my sweet friend & partner in {shopping} crime yanked me out of my comfort zone. how? we shopped at forever 21 where i not only purchased a dress, but leggings, too. {and i don't ever shop at forever 21.}

...that i miss my long hair. not gonna lie about this. i miss wearing a pony tail.

...if you haven't entered my orly nail polish giveaway yet. you still have time. the winner will be announced on october 28th.

...that i really should be working on homework instead of writing this blog post.

*before you get all cray-cray on me, my parents were pretty relaxed about my musical choices growing up. i was a good kid, made good grades, didn't cause trouble or get into trouble. they really appreciated the fact that my sister & i had very eclectic taste in music and did not censor our choices. i am the same way with my children. there are some groups, songs, etc. that i prefer them not to hear or listen to, but for the most part they listen to what adam & i listen to. music is a form of expression. it's an art. i want my children to appreciate it and all genres of it.

it's ok thursday!

because it's been a while since i've done this {and i really should be doing it on the regular}, i am linking up with two lovelies, neely from a complete waste of makeup & amber from brunch with amber, for...

Its Ok Thursdays

it's ok...

that my followers via google friend connect seem to drop like flies every now & again. big deal.

that the stupid google friend connect box {found under the beachcombers label} isn't always present on my blog. where does it go? i have no stinkin' idea.

to be more motivated to clean the house than to do homework.

that i'm too crazy, stupid nervous to substitute teach. i'm a weenie. {sub jobs are few & far between at the moment.}

to fight with your husband over stupid stuff every now & again. that yo-yo needs to check himself before he wrecks himself.

to be super duper proud of your yo-yo husband {even though you are angry with him about stupid stuff} because he was accepted into {community} college.  this is the same guy who got his g.e.d. not even two weeks ago.

to dream about vacations we'll probably never take. well, not right now, at least.

to have a {borderline crazy} thing for nail polish. are you a julep maven??

that no one read my list of seven things from a blog post yesterday. it's funny. i talked about poop.

to have the sadz because life doesn't always get the memo.

to enjoy driving a minivan...again.

that the grass in our front yard is tall enough for people to think we're trashy. if it would ever stop raining, then maybe adam would cut it. at least there's no car on cinder blocks in the yard, too. {ok, ok, the grass isn't that tall.}

to dream about a local coffee shop's midnight pumpkin latte because it is so much better than a well-known coffee chain's cult classic, the p.s.l.  of course, having said that, i think i need to ask that well-known coffee chain to make me a chocolate pumpkin it's on their secret menu, yo.

that i should be sitting in algebra class right now instead of typing this blog post. uh, oh!

it's simply okay that i like oldies.

today's post is a mish-mash {if you will} of three link-ups: one that i participate in as often as i remember to can & two that i've never participated in before.

are you ready? here we go.

The Simple Things

here are the simple things i appreciated this week:

sunday funday with a group of really great friends.
rain. although it ruined some of our fun, we needed it.
$1 containers of strawberries at target {my store recently added produce & meats}.
watching phineas & ferb with my kids.
cooking dinner with the hubby.
puppy breath.
having two {maybe three} bags of clothes & other stuff to donate.
the cooler temps.
knowing that pumpkin spice lattes are just a few weeks away from being back in starbucks stores.
hearing my children laugh.

what simple things are you appreciative for this week?
link up with jesslyn amber.

Its Ok Thursdays

it's OKAY...

that i really enjoy 90210 reruns {even the corny high school episodes}.
that - even though i'm NOT into football - i'm going to my husband's fantasy league draft this weekend {i'm in it for the food & beer, people!}.
that my house is not spic & span clean.
that i stalk fedex's tracking site daily because i'm way too excited about receiving my erin condren life planner {i just checked & it's on the truck for delivery...today!!}.
to have a bazillion things/ideas that need to be blogged about {i'll get around to blogging about it all at some point}.
to feel nervous about boarding my dogs this weekend {it's their first time being boarded. it's only for one night, but still. mama's nervous.}.
to get excited when i find bags of smarties in the $1 section of target {seriously, y'all, i may need a smarties intervention soon}.
that the hubs & i have to budget every last cent we have {such is life on a single-income when your wife -that's me - decides to go to grad school full-time}.
to be excited about going to great wolf lodge {really, i think i'm more excited than my kids are. or, maybe it's because i know the outlets aren't far from g.w.l.}.
that the laundry isn't put away...at least it's all washed & folded!

it's okay...go link up with neely & amber!

last, but certainly not least, i'm linking up with meghan at the perfect compilation tape for top 5 thursdays.

today's topic?

"ring of fire" by johnny cash
need i say more?

"two tickets to paradise" by eddie money
i'd like two tickets, please.

"take the money and run" by steve miller band

my taste in music is all. over. the. place.
