open mouth, insert foot.

i'm an open-minded person. i'm fairly liberal. and, let's just put this out there, i'm pro-choice, too.

but, this isn't a political post.

no. instead, this post is a gripe about ignorant people.

i know we're all guilty of speaking before thinking, but damn...some people really shouldn't be allowed to articulate their feelings in a verbal manner. period.

let me just preface my rant with this:
my most recent hair cut was quite a change. we're talking major change.

i'm a funny person. sometimes, i really, really, REALLY wonder what others think or say about me. other times, i don't give a hoot. well, my super short pixie cut had me wondering what people thought.

every reaction i've gotten thus far has been nothing short of awesome: hot, sexy, amazing, fabulous, cute...those are just some of the words used to describe my look {i'm totally blushing}. i even had a friend tell another friend that i look just like my mother...that's an amazing compliment.

last weekend, i got the reaction i had been dreading {and, yes, i wondered when someone would say something}...

michelle, are you a lesbian?*
*and, just so we're clear, lesbian was NOT the term used

first of all, i'm not homophobic. not at all. i don't care who you love as long as you're loved and are being loved. of course, if you have romantical feelings about your mother or farm animals, well, then you've got issues. second of all, being questioned about my sexuality, while it caught me off guard, didn't really bother me..much. this brings me to my third point...

the fact that people will make an assumption about a person's sexuality based off of a hair cut? yeah, that bothers me.

it's a shame that some people are narrow-minded. it's a shame that some people still feed off of stereotypes and other asinine assumptions. good gracious...people really are ignorant, aren't they?

short hair does not equate to homosexuality. short hair on a woman exudes nothing but confidence, sass & spunk. so, ignorant people of the world, please think before you speak because hell hath no fury like a woman...with short hair.
