better together.

the last time adam & i saw jack johnson in concert was back in 2002 {i was a few months pregnant with aidan}.  however, in just over a week we will see him in concert again.

we are stoked.

mellow, meaningful music.  i'm very much looking forward to a night out with adam.  a night to forget the bad.  a night to cherish the good.  a night to remind us both that we truly are...

better together.

There is no combination of words I could put on the back of a postcard
And no song that I could sing but I can try for your heart
And our dreams and they are made out of real things
Like a shoebox of photographs with sepia-toned loving
Love is the answer at least for most of the questions in my heart
Like why are we here? And where do we go? And how come it’s so hard?

It’s not always easy and sometimes life can be deceiving
I’ll tell you one thing, it’s always better when we’re together

It’s always better when we’re together
We’ll look at the stars when we’re together
It’s always better when we’re together
It’s always better when we’re together

And all of these moments just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they’ll be gone when the morning light sings
Or brings new things for tomorrow night you see
That they’ll be gone too, too many things I have to do
But if all of these dreams might find their way into my day to day scene
I’d be under the impression I was somewhere in between
With only two, just me and you, not so many things we got to do
Or places we got to be we’ll sit beneath the mango tree now

It’s always better when we’re together
We’re somewhere in between together
Well it’s always better when we’re together
It’s always better when we’re together

I believe in memories they look so pretty when I sleep
And when I wake up you look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time
And there is no song I could sing
And there is no combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing
We’re better together

enjoy the video - it's from the 2007 show. adam & i had 8th row seats. pretty awesome. i'll apologize now for the quality. it's hard to take video with a digicam, dance & drink beer all at the same time. the guys in front of us also made it difficult for me, but at least you'll get some amusement out of seeing their arms pop up throughout the video {and thank goodness i'm not singing along either...trust me, my voice makes nails on a chalkboard sound lovely}.

Two Step

Celebrate we will
Because life is short but sweet for certain
We're climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue
These things we cannot change

{R.I.P. Roi}

Can anyone guess where I'll be tomorrow night?

Summer just wouldn't be summer without some Dave Matthews Band. I haven't missed a summer show in many, many years. It's always nice when the boys come back to Virginia & jam. Friday evening cannot come fast enough.

{the pics are some of my own from the 2007 show...my pics from last year's show aren't as 'nice' and I'll just blame that on the wine}

We Went Out Last {Thursday} Night...

...and one thing started leading to another...

Well, no, not really. But, just like in the Kenny song, we did go out, but not because we swore we wouldn't. And, yes, just like the Kenny song, we drank too many beers that night, but it's all good because summer isn't summer without some Kenny in it!

My screams didn't pierce any eardrums. I didn't get out-of-control crazy. I had a great time with our friends, Catrina & Fred. And, even the hubs enjoyed himself ('cause y'all know he's a closet Kenny fan, right?!).

I Think His Tractor's Sexy

My summer officially starts tonight.

The kids are coming home. We're headed to Ocracoke Island, NC tomorrow. But first...

A date with this man tonight...{sort of}:

(source)

OK, so I won't be the only lady actin' a fool for Kenny's attention, but still...in my mind, it's a date. A date that my husband will chaperone. I mean, I need someone with me to keep me in control and to make sure I don't scream away my voice.

Summer + Kenny Chesney = LVE

La-La-La-La-La-La Last Friday Night!

I survived last Friday night's monsoon and made it to my first NKOTB concert ever. I'll admit, I had mixed feelings about it. One minute I would be excited, the next minute I would feel silly and then I just didn't really care much for going. Yeah. Can you say indecisive?

Anyways, I had fun. Too much fun. Not as much fun as some of my friends did (um, hello, you did WHAT to Donnie WHERE at 4am?...no, it wasn't like THAT...come on, my girlfriends are much classier than you are thinking), but I had fun nonetheless. My scratchy voice and pounding head the next morning were proof of just how much fun I had. Twenty years later, the New Kids on the Block could still bring it. They still had the right stuff. They were still hangin' tough.

I think the highlight of the night was when they raced down the walkway behind our box seats and scattered throughout the audience to sing. Joey Mac was less than 25 feet from us and when they were done singing they raced back by us and we did our best to molest touch them as they ran by. You had best believe there was some squealing & high-fiving going on when I laid my left hand upon Joey Mac's chest as he ran by. There was even more squealing & high-fiving when my friend, Catrina, touched Donnie and she got some of his perspiration on her hand. Yeah, we're not hard to please.

And now, for your viewing pleasure, here are pictures that I took before the show at dinner and during the show. Please pardon my less than spectacular photography skills. I was armed with my point-and-shoot Kodak and I was pretty much double-fisted the whole evening. He he he.

And, just in case you didn't get enough of my love, Joey Mac, then here's a poorly taken video (it's the camera, I swear!)...it's just a minute of fun. I'm warning you now...turn down your volume if you have it up because I DO have a set of lungs on me and, yes, that is me you hear screaming (gee...I wonder why my voice was scratchy the next morning??). And, if you get motion sickness, you probably shouldn't watch - it was hard to hold up my camera, drink my beer, dance, jump & scream all at the same time. It really was.

I - along with a bazillion other women - had fun reliving my junior high school days last Friday night. Now, I'm ready to see them all over again.

Please Don't Go Girl...

Sorry, but I'm going. I am totally going to get back in touch with my inner junior high school self and relive some old memories...

I am going to see New Kids on the Block!

I. Am. Stoked.

The concert is THIS Friday and I. Cannot. Wait. CANNOT.

The hubs has REFUSED to tag along with me, but I don't care. I'm so excited that my friend, Laith, is driving down from Richmond to hang out with me and sing some old school NKOTB songs with me! (She's a much bigger fan than I am.) Friday night is going to be a ton of fun!
