HOW BIZARRE

Isn't it funny how certain images or scents can thrust your mind back to some memory that you either look back on with fondness or regret anguish? Songs do this, too...at least they do to me. I swear I'm not the only one out there who associates songs with certain feelings or memories, right?

This morning on the way to work OMC's "How Bizarre" came on the radio. I haven't heard the song in a few years. As I was driving down the road I was quickly taken back to my very late teen years circa 1997 (I turned 20 in September of that year). That was a fun time...fun, but frustrating (now that I look back). But, I suppose the definition of fun all depends on who you ask. I could remember the people Adam and I were hanging out with, what we were doing, where we were hanging out...all of those memories came flooding back. Some were good, some were not so good. Regrets? Nah. Things happen for a reason, right? It's just crazy how that one song flooded my mind with a hodge-podge of mixed emotions and a basic flashback-like montage of how right, but so wrong my life was back then. Pretty heavy stuff for a Monday morning commute to work, huh?

OMC's "How Bizarre" is just one of many songs that "take me back." The human mind is a spectacular thing...it's amazing how much we retain and how something as simple as a song can produce such strong emotions and memories....

So, what's a song that triggers a memory in your mind? (You don't have to share the specific memory...like it says in OMC's "How Bizarre" -- 'Wanna know the rest? Hey, buy the rights...')

It gives me great pleasure to share my excitement with the world...

The picture is courtesy of MOI...8th row orchestra seats are N-I-C-E!

Dave & the boys (minus Roi..*sniffle*) are headed back to the amphitheater. I cannot contain my excitement...well, I can...squeals of delight just wouldn't be appropriate right now. I haven't missed a DMB show in years. Yes, years. At least not the yearly Virginia Beach show.

And, to add to the excitement, Donovan Frankenreiter is opening for Dave Matthews Band. I love Donovan...I haven't had the chance to see him live, but I do enjoy his music...very much. This is so exciting!

Now, the fun part.........getting my grubby paws on some tickets come March 13th. :)

My Tunes!

So, I was skimming through the Blogger Buzz the other day and came across another nifty widget that you can add to your blog:

http://buzz.blogger.com/2008/12/ilike-add-soundtrack-to-your-blog.html

After playing around with it a bit...I decided to add some tunes to my blog. It doesn't automatically start playing whenever you open the blog which is a nice feature. I don't know about you, but I really dislike being startled by someone's music when I open a blog or website. I know, I know...I should just keep the volume on the 'puter down or on mute....

Anywho...my only gripe about the feature is that not all of the songs they have are FULL length versions of the song...you get a snippet or maybe a minute's worth of the song. Ew.

Alas, despite it's flaws (it's still in beta mode, I believe) I added some music to my page and named it "My Tunes." Ha ha ha. It's all Jack Johnson with one Jonas Brothers song tossed in for my Malia. She's a big fan and, well, so am I. Those boys are so damn cute.

Can't get enough of this man!

I really like Jack Johnson. I listen to his music as often as I can which - here lately - isn't often enough. There is just something relaxing about his music...it's like I get so calm and so happy all at the same time whenever I'm listening to Jack. I love how music can instantly transform your mood and take you back into your memories into another time, another place...at that's what listening to Jack Johnson does for me.

Without a doubt, I believe "In Between Dreams" is my favorite Jack Johnson album and I'm instantly swept away to the beaches of Playa del Carmen, Mexico with not a worry or care in sight. That's a good thing!
I've seen him in concert ONCE...and I would really like to see him again. Live Jack Johnson is amazing and I'll never forget that night at The Norva with my sister...it was our birthday presents to each other (and I was also about three months preggo with my son...it was THAT long ago).

Bottle of red....bottle of white....

I would just like to state for the record that the Billy Joel concert last Saturday at the Amphitheather was A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! We missed the first few songs thanks to the ridiculous traffic, but I guess that was to be expected for a sold-out show.

Our tardiness did not matter, however, because Mr. Joel was phenomenal...he jammed on the piano and sang his heart out for two hours straight. That man can still rock!
